So You Want to Transfer?

All those students planning on transferring to a four year school next fall: Make sure all of your information has been sent to the transfer school! Many deadlines have already past but others will be coming up very soon.

Many students come out of high school expecting college will be exciting and easily handled. Many have no idea what they want to do ... except go to college.

Knowing what you want is important. You need to pick a direction. You need to know that your path is achievable. Planning that path is vital.

Transferring to a four year school is a process not just an event. Talk to a counselor as you plan your future.

PRIORITY REVIEW FOR VIRGINIA TECH

Priority Review will again be available to VCCS students wishing to apply for the summer/fall 2013 semesters. Students who plan to take advantage of this early application process should pay close attention to the stated deadlines. Below is the process and schedule:

  1. January 4, 2013 – online Transfer Application must be submitted by midnight.
  2.
  3. January 4, 2013 – transcripts from all colleges/universities attended must either be postmarked or sent via email to transcripts@vt.edu> by midnight. For transcripts sent via email, the subject line must include the Student’s Name and Major. For Priority Review, we can work with unofficial transcripts sent by the student. Fall 2012 grades must be included on the VCCS transcript.
  4.
  5. First Week of February – decisions will be mailed.

This year, it will not be necessary for students to sign up in their VCCS advising offices. Any application received from a current VCCS student by the January 4, 2013 deadline (including receipt of all transcripts) will be reviewed under this process. All applications/transcripts received after January 4, 2013 will be reviewed under the regular transfer process.

Students MUST have both the application and all college transcripts in by January 4, 2013. Because of the expected volume, we will not be able to make any exceptions to this deadline.
